Links to some of my favorite websites!

  1. If you don’t have an account set up with Photobucket, click here and follow the directions to set up a new Photobucket account.

  2. Upload your item’s pictures to Photobucket. For illustrated directions on how to do so, click here. Keep that webpage open to refer to it later.

  3. Click on the link provided to you via email to download your auction template. It will be in a .rtf file which can be opened in Microsoft Word, notepad and most other word processing programs. Save it in a safe place on your hard drive, and open your template.

  4. You will see a bunch of text that looks like code - this is completely normal! There is a lot of text in this document but I’ve made it easy for you to know what to change and what to leave alone. Make sure that you only change what I’ve instructed you to change. Changing anything other than that can result in problems with your template.

  5. Scroll down until you see a span of about ten spaces around a single sentence in red text. This is how you can tell what information needs to be changed and what information needs to be left alone. You will see the sentence Your Auction Title Goes Here. It will look like this:

  6. This is where you will put your Auction Title. Just type over the existing text with your Auction Title. Don't worry, your text will not come out red in your template. It will look something like this:

  7. Next, scroll down until you see the same pattern again, a span of about ten spaces around a single sentence in red text. You will see the sentence Highlight This Sentence And Paste The HTML Code From Photobucket Here. It will look like this:

  8. This is where we will add your item’s pictures. In step 2, you uploaded all of your item’s pictures to Photobucket. Scroll down until you see your first picture and look for the "HTML Code" underneath it:

IMPORTANT! Do not use the "Email & IM", "Direct Link", or "IMG Code" tag - this is the most common picture mistake!

Copy the "HTML Code" simply by clicking in the box, it will automatically be copied (cool huh?). Now, go back into your Auction Template and highlight Highlight This Sentence And Paste The HTML Code From Photobucket Here:

And paste the "HTML Code" in it's place. It will look something like this:

  9. If you only have one picture for your item, skip to step 10. If you have more than one, you can easily add more by adding a <br><br> tag after the code for your first picture and copying and pasting the "HTML Code" for your second picture beneath it, like this :

You can repeat the process with as many pictures as you like!

  10. Next, scroll down until you see the same pattern again, a span of about ten spaces around a single sentence in red text. This time you'll see This is the text for your "Description" header. Simply type over this sentence with your item's description. Don't worry, your text will not come out red in your template.

  11. Next, scroll down until you see the same pattern again, a span of about ten spaces around a single sentence in red for both your "Payment" header and your "Shipping" header. Repeat step 10 to write in your text for your remaining headers.

  12. Congratulations, you’re done! If you'd like to preview your template before listing on eBay, you can visit www.practiceboard.com. Copy and paste all the text in your template into the box at the top and hit "see HTML".

If something doesn't look right, please go through all the steps thoroughly to make sure that everything looks as it should. If you are still having problems, please copy and paste your HTML into the practiceboard and hit "see HTML". A web address will pop up, like this:

Email that address to me along with your problem to AmybugSells@comcast.net and I'll take a peek and get back to you as soon as possible with a solution.

Now you can scroll down for instructions on how to upload your template to eBay. Remember to always preview your item before officially listing it to make sure that it looks as you'd like.

  1. From the eBay homepage, select the “Sell” tab at the top of the page.

  2. Make sure that "Customize Your Listing" is selected and click on "Start Selling".

  3. Fill in the information to sell your item as you normally would. When you get to the "Describe the item you're selling" section, make sure that the HTML tab is selected:

  4. Copy and Paste the HTML from your Auction Template into the box provided:

  5. Please note that the "Preview" function may or may not work, eBay has been having problems with it lately. If you'd like to see what your auction will look like, you can switch to the "Standard" tab to see the graphics:

NOTE: Please make sure that you copy and paste the HTML code into the HTML tab BEFORE switching to the Standard Tab or the graphics will not show up.

  6. Complete filling in the information for your item. Congratulations, you’re done!
